RJP calls for formation of 'Flood-affected Area Reconstruction Authority'
Kathmandu - The Rastriya Janata Party (RJP) has urged Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba to form the 'Flood-affected Area Reconstruction Authority' based on the Post Disaster Need Assessment report.
Following the all-party meeting held at Prime Minister's residence, Baluwatar, earlier today, RJP leaders submitted a 10-point memorandum to the PM on the issue concerning the rescue and relief of flood survivors.
Among the major demands of the memorandum include allocation of Rs 26 billion by the government for the relief of survivors, formation of all-party mechanism under PM leadership and requesting domestic and international agencies for post-flood reconstruction and organizing donors' conference.
RJP Presidium Coordinator Mahantha Thakur shared that they have drawn the attention of PM towards addressing the problems of flood survivors who are suffering most from the disaster.
"Prime Minister himself has reached to the flood-ravaged sites and is aware about the woes of the survivors. We asked him to be serious for making arrangements for relief to the flood survivors", Thakur added.
