Sunsari reports two more deaths from floods

Inaruwa - Sunsari, one of the districts most affected by the floods caused by monsoon rains, has reported two more deaths this morning. 

The latest victims are Dhodhiya Mandal and Sajhodevi Rhishidev of Bhokraha Rural Municipality. With this the confirmed death toll from the disasters has reached nine in the district. 

Floodwater has completely inundated Narsingh Tapara of Jhokraha Rural Municipality-5 while hundreds of houses at Harinagara Rural Municipality-1, Ramnagar Bhutaha-3 and 4 have been submerged. Over 7,000 people throughout the district have been displaced by floods. 

People of Basantapur of Harinagara-5 have been deprived of food for the past two days. Water level in the village exceeds seven feet, according to CPN (Maoist Center) leader Mohan Yadav. 

Some 600 houses on the border of Basantapur and Narsingh have been completely submerged by flood waters. The locals are in the desperate wait for getting a rescue. 

Likewise, life at wards numbers 1,2,3 and 5 of Koshi Rural Municipality has been badly affected as the flood inundated the entire settlements. Normal life in Dewangunj, Gadhi and Barju Rural Municipalities has been hit hard. 

Traffic services along the East-West Highway in the eastern Terai have been disrupted as most areas here have turned waterlogged following floods in rivers caused by continuous downpour. 

The Nepal Army's Itahari-based eastern division, the District Administration, District Police Office, District Livestock Office and other government offices based in the district headquarters Inaruwa have been waterlogged.
