Health Minister urges Dr KC to end fast-onto-death

Kathmandu - Health Minister Giriraj Mani Pokharel has urged Dr. Govinda KC, who is on a fast-unto-death, to break his hunger strike.

He urged Dr KC to end the hunger strike considering the sensibility of government as it had to prioritize natural disaster issues.

Issuing a press statement today, Minister urged Dr KC to create conducive environment for doctors to return to their daily work after calling off the hunger strikes as huge humanitarian loss and injuries were seen due to natural disaster across the country.

Minister Pokharel further shared that the bill related to medical education reforms as per KC's demand, was passed from the parliamentary committee, and was on the process of endorsing it from the parliament as well therefore there was no relevance of continuing the hunger strike.

Senior orthopedic surgeon at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH), Dr KC is in his 11th hunger strike, demanding overall reforms in the country's medical education and health sector.
