Oli bats for endorsement of Employees Adjustment Act

Kathmandu - CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli has underscored the need to endorse the Employees Adjustment Act by considering amendments in it, stating that the Act formulated to adjust the employees was inadequate.

At a seminar organized by Nepal Civil Service Employee's Association on the occasion of martyr Manoj-Jhapendra Memorial Day here on Sunday, leader Oli said that since the Employees Adjustment Act was not employees-friendly, it would be revised in the parliament.

According to Oli, the Act lacks provisions such as deployment of employees to the designated place within 35 days of adjustment and right to association and setting up trade unions for employees among others.

Oli, also the former Prime Minister, urged the government not to consider amendment in the Act hastily rather he appealed to wait until the provincial structures are formed.

Since the Act is under deliberation in the parliament, he pressed for thorough discussion and study before passing it.

Oli pressed for unity among the political parties for ensuring national unity and economic prosperity to the country.

On the occasion, Minister for General Administration Tek Bahadur Basnet spoke of the need to move ahead by addressing the issues facing the adjustment of employees.

Underlining impartiality during adjustment of employees, Basnet assured that the action would be taken against disobedient and undisciplined employees to put an end to the tendency of non-commitment.

Director General of the Department of Postal Service, Suresh Adhikari, presented working paper at the seminar and spoke of the need to adjust employees considering the welfare of the employees too.

Trade Union's President Punya Prasad Dhakal called for cooperation with the trade unions during adjustment of employees.
