Corruption roots in policy and programme - PAC President

Banepa - Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) President Dor Prasad Upadhyay said the corruption and irregularities emerged out from the government's policy and programmes.

At an orientation programme 'Audit with Media' organized by the Office of Auditor General at Dhulikhel, he asserted, "The policy and programme do not certify any vested interests".

President Upadhyay argued that budget itself was the impediment to tower government's capital spending while accusing the government of committing irregularities in the name of popularity.

Irregularities are being occurred from the budget related process, he said, adding that it should be the concern of all sides to end policy corruption.

Auditor General Tanka Mani Sharma said that the OAG has come up with the provision to ban transfer and promotion of employees without internal auditing.

He highlighted the need of auditing to make the institutions publicly accountable and responsible.

Around 30 journalists are taking part in the two-day orientation.
