CPN (US) to claim 20 percent of total seats under direct election system

KATHMANDU, Aug 11: The ruling alliance has agreed to forge an electoral alliance for the upcoming HoR and Province level elections scheduled on November 20, 2022.

The alliance has formed a taskforce and agreed to share seats similar to that of local elections.

Of the 165 seats under the direction election system, the CPN (Unified Socialist) is preparing to claim 20 to 25 percent of the total seat, which is 32 to 42 seats.

“There are currently 24 lawmakers of our party in the federal assembly and 60 in provincial assemblies. In the upcoming election, we are looking forward to adding some more,” a leader of CPN (US) said.

The ruling Nepali Congress is eying to be the largest party in the country through the election while the CPN (Maoist Center) is targeting to be the second largest.

Of the 165 election constituencies, the NC is preparing to claim 99 seats while the CPN (MC) is preparing to claim 50 seats. Likewise, the CPN (US) wants 25 seats and the JSP wants 15 seats. One goes to the Rastriya Janamorcha Party.
