Nepali Congress quits electoral alliance in Gorkha

KATHMANDU, April 24: After failing to forge an electoral alliance among the members of the ruling alliance in Gorkha, the ruling Nepali Congress has announced that the party will contest in the upcoming local level elections without forging an alliance with any party.

Organizing a press conference, Nanda Prasad Neupane, district chairperson of Gorkha, maintained that the party will contest the election solely. “Due to some personal interest of some leaders, we failed to reach an agreement. Now the party will solely file its candidacy in 94 wards of 11 local levels,” Neupane said.

Meanwhile, the CPN (Maoist Center), a key coalition member of the ruling government, is looking forward to forging an electoral alliance among remaining members of the coalition, according to Lekh Bahadur Thapa, CPN (MC)’s district chairman of Gorkha.
