MC decides to make final effort to save ruling alliance

As the government has tabled the Millennium Challenge Corporation-Nepal compact (MCC) in parliament for ratification, the party has decided to withdraw its support to the government if the compact is ratified in its existing form.

KATHMANDU, Feb 25: The CPN (Maoist Center),a key partner of the ruling Nepali Congress, has decided to make a last effort to save the ruling alliance.

The party took the decision through an internal discussion held earlier this morning.

As the government has tabled the Millennium  Challenge Corporation-Nepal compact (MCC) in parliament for ratification, the party has decided to withdraw its support to the government if the compact is ratified in its existing form.

“The party has not changed its position regarding the MCC but has decided to make a last effort to convince the government,” a MC leader told Ratopati.

As the ruling Nepali Congress and MC share different position reagrding the MCC ratification, the ruling alliance is on the verge of split.
