KATHMANDU, Feb 25: A large number of security personnel has been deployed at the Maitighar-Baneshwar road section in Kathmandu as the political parties have been staging protests against the Millennium Challenge Corporation-Nepal compact (MCC) in the area.

A meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) is scheduled to be held at 1 PM on Friday to discuss the ratification of the MCC agreement.

The ruling alliance has been fragmented and the public outcry deepens as the government prepares to ratify the MCC agreement.

The MCC has given a deadline of February 28 to ratify the compact. Nepal has also received words from the American leaders that the USA might review its diplomatic ties with Nepal if Nepal fails to ratify the compact by the given deadline.
