Govt to table MCC in parliament today

KATHMANDU, Feb 19: Following the ruling alliance decision to allow the government to table the Millennium Challenge Corporation- Nepal Compact (MCC) in parliament, the government has made preparation to table the MCC in Sunday’s House of Representatives (HoR) meeting, according to Minister for Information, Communication and Technology and Spokesperson for the government, Gyanendra Karki.

In recent days, the ruling alliance was holding discussions and meetings to forge a consensus to ratify the compact.

As the deadline of the compact ratification nears, the government of Nepal is compelled to ratify it through parliament as the United States of America (USA) has already announced to review its diplomatic ties with Nepal in case of failure of ratifying the compact.

Meanwhile, protests have erupted against the $500 million American grant in the streets of Kathmandu.
