We can also impeach Speaker Sapkota: UML leader Basnet

KATHMANDU, Feb 8: Mahesh Basent, a politburo member of the main opposition party, CPN-UML, has maintained that the party can also impeach Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR), Agni Prasad Sapkota.

Addressing an interaction program in Kathmandu, Basnet maintained that many political experts have also advised the party to impeach Speaker Sapkota, so it is likely.

However, Basnet also stated that no official decision regarding impeachment has been made by the party when asked whether UML will impeach Sapkota. “More than 100 lawmakers are ready to impeach Speaker Sapkota. There is no need for any preparations,” he added. 

The main opposition party, CPN-UML, has been disrupting House proceedings accusing Speaker Sapkota of helping the splinter faction of the party led by Madhav Kumar Nepal to form a new political party when the party had sacked 14 leaders including Nepal.
