Condoms worth Rs 53 million imported in first five months of current FY

KATHMANDU, Jan 18: Condoms worth more than Rs 53 million were imported in Nepal in the first five months of the Fiscal Year 2021/22. 

According to the data released by the Department of Customs, contraceptives worth Rs 53.2 million were imported between mid-July last year and mid-January, this year. 

Data suggests that seven countries including India, China, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, UAE and USA are the major exporters of condoms to Nepal. 

Of the total imports recorded by mid-January, contraceptives worth Rs 42 million were imported from India following South Korea (Rs 3.2 million), Malaysia (Rs 2.8 million), Thailand (Rs 2.7 million) and China (Rs 1.5 million). 

Nepal had imported more than 600 million pieces of condoms worth Rs 243.8 million in the last fiscal year 2020/21.
