COVID-19 cases surpass 5000-mark on Friday, positivity rate nears 25 pc

KATHMANDU, Jan 14: As many as 5,087 new coronavirus cases were detected on Friday, the highest single-day spike since the new wave arrived in the country. 

The new cases were reported from 20,560 tests carried out across the country in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate on Friday stood at 24.74 percent. 

While 306 people got over the virus, three people succumbed to the disease, according to the Health and Population Ministry. 

With today’s infection spike, the number of active cases has reached 18,235.
