District convention of CPN-UML begins

KATHMANDU, Jan 7: The CPN (UML) Chair KP Sharma Oli on Friday virtually inaugurated the party’s district convention in over 60 districts.

Chairman Oli  inaugurated the event from an action room at the Thapathali-based party’s central office.

In his address to the programme, the former Prime Minister maintained that the party was committed to the protection and promotion of nationality and for the achievement of prosperity. He also urged party cadres to gear up for the upcoming election with the target of winning the election by a majority of votes.

The district convention of the party that had held its 10th National Congress in Chitwan in late November last year has kicked off in over 60 districts except some districts including the mountainous ones.

“The district convention in 16 districts including the mountainous districts has been postponed today due to the lack of preparation and the cold weather,” said  Bishnu Rijal, UML Central Publicity Department Deputy Chief. He added that the next date for convention in the mountainous districts would be fixed in consultation with the party central office.

The party's central committee meeting held on December 11 and 12 in Bhaktapur had decided to hold the party's district convention on Jan 7  and Province Convention on January 22.
