Maoist Center’s CC meeting, which was scheduled to pick office bearers, postponed

KATHMANDU, Jan 7: A Central Committee meeting called for Sunday to pick the office bearers of the party has been postponed until further notice.

According to Shree Ram Dhakal, secretary at the party office, the meeting was put off as some of the leaders and staff at the party office contracted coronavirus of late.

With this, the party's plan to select office bearers is set to be delayed.

The party’s recently held general convention had elected a 236-member central committee. The committee later re-elected Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ unanimously.

The party’s central committee, however, is yet to pick 14 of 15 office bearers.

Meanwhile, Chair Prachanda suspended meetings starting Thursday as some leaders tested positive for the virus.
