CPN (Maoist Center) to pick its office-bearers today

KATHMANDU, Jan 3: The CPN (Maoist Centre) is all set to pick its office-bearers on Monday. 

The Party on Sunday unanimously passed the names of the 236-member central committee in the ongoing 8th general convention being held in Kathmandu. Among them, 132 were recommended under the open category and 125 under proportional. 

Party Spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara, talking to media persons on Sunday, shared that the maiden meeting of the newly elected central committee on Monday will pick the office-bearers.

The central committee will elect a politburo, standing committee and office-bearers. The party will have 15 office bearer positions including a chairperson. The office-bearer positions include a chairman, a senior vice-chair, six vice-chairs, a general secretary, two deputy general secretaries,  three secretaries, and a treasurer.

The 8th general convention of the party was inaugurated last Sunday. Party Chair Dahal submitted the political proposal while party leader Dev Prasad Gurung presented a draft statute last Monday. Group discussions were held last Tuesday and Wednesday.
