Nepal reports 241 new cases of COVID-19

KATHMANDU, Dec 30: No death linked with the coronavirus disease was reported on Thursday. It may be noted that two people died of the infection on Wednesday.

A total of 11,590 people have so far died of coronavirus infection in Nepal. 

According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), as many as 242 people tested positive for the disease during the tests formed on 8,897 people in the last 24 hours as of Thursday afternoon. Presently, the number of active cases in the country stands at 4,871. 

Another 228 recovered from the virus. With this, the number of those who have recovered has reached 811,746. The recovery rate is 98 percent, the ministry said. 

The districts with more than 500 infections are Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur, while Sunsari, Kaski, Banke and Kailali have reported more than 200 active cases of COVID-19.

Similarly, Solukhumbu, Rasuwa, Manang, Mustang, Humla, Mugu and Bajura districts have zero infection. The infection rate in Nepal is 17.1 percent. 

At present, 4,634 people are being treated in home isolation, 237 in institutional isolation, 84 in ICU and 23 with the support of a ventilator.

Meanwhile, 56,112 people were vaccinated against COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.
