Maoist Center all set for  national conference, invites all major political forces

Even though the party has termed the jamboree as ‘the first historical national conference’ the party is preparing to elect its new leadership, converting the conference into its 8th General Convention.

KATHMANDU, December 26: The CPN (Maoist Center) is all set to hold its three day long ‘First Historic National Conference’ that will kick off from today.

The party has invited all the major political parties to the inauguration of the event that is scheduled to be held in Kathmandu in the late Sunday afternoon, according to Shree Ram Dhakal, secretary at the central office of the party. “Even if the inauguration was scheduled to begin at 1 PM this afternoon, it is likely that it will kick off late around 3 PM,” secretary Dhakal told Ratopati.

A meeting of the standing committee of the party held on Saturday took a decision to convert the national conference into the national congress of the party. A meeting of the central committee is scheduled to be held this morning to approve the decision.

Meanwhile, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Chairman of the party held talks with Chairman of CPN-UML, KP Sharma Oli through a phone call and invited him to the inauguration event. Earlier, Dahal had skipped the inauguration of UML’s general convention held in Chitwan despite an invitation from Oli.
