Nembang elected Maoist Center’s Province 1 Chair. Know newly-elected team
240 delegates vote to elect 9 office bearers
KATHMANDU, Dec 23: Har Bahadur Nembang has been elected the chairman of Province 1 executive committee of CPN (Maoist Center).
Nembang defeated his contender Muksahang Menyangbo in the election held on Wednesday evening.
While Nembang secured 169 votes, Menyangbo got only 64 votes.
A total of 240 were cast, of which 7 were invalidated.
Similarly, Mani Kumar Sampang (111), Devan Chamling (120) and Shiva Kumar Dangi (113) were elected vice-chairs.
Ganesh Upreti, on the other hand, was elected secretary securing 148 votes against his rival CP Kadariya’s 83 ballots.
The new joint secretaries include Kumari Rai, Sagar Kirati and Rishiram Dhungana. While Rai and Kirati polled 114 and 73 votes respectively, Dhungana garnered 95 votes to make it to the ruling party’s provincial executive committee.
Meanwhile, newly elected Treasurer Rewat Rai Puri emerged victorious with 93 votes.
As many as 29 candidates were in the race for nine different office bearer positions, according to Rajan Kirati, the coordinator of the election committee.
Earlier, Bagmati Province, too, held elections to choose new leadership.
Saral Sahayarti Poudel was elected chairman of the party Bagmati Province in an election held on Monday.
