House passes four ordinances amid UML obstruction, next meeting on Jan 2
KATHMANDU, Dec 22: Four ordinances have been endorsed by a meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) amid obstruction and sloganeering by the CPN-UML lawmakers.
The House meeting passed three ordinances tabled in Wednesday’s meeting. The ordinances include the Nepal Police and Nepal Police (Operation, Supervision and Coordination) (First Amendment) Ordinance -2021, the Ordinance Regulating Acid and Harmful Chemical Substances-2021 and Social Security (First Amendment) Ordinance-2021 in the HoR meeting, for endorsement.
Similarly, the Railway Ordinance-2021, tabled by Minister for Physical Infrastructures and Transport, Renu Kumari Yadav was also endorsed by the House.
The main opposition, UML, however, has been obstructing the House meetings since September 8. Protesting the inaction of Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota to sack its 14 lawmakers, the main opposition has continued obstruction. Amid obstruction, the summer session was prorogued on October 28.
The next meeting of the lower House has been scheduled for January 2, next year.
