UPDATE: Deuba leading vote-count for NC Prez with 1,556 votes, Koirala trailing behind with 1,197

KATHMANDU: Sher Bahadur Deuba is leading the vote-count for Nepali Congress (NC) presidency with 1,556 votes. 

Of the total 3,282 votes counted so far, Deuba’s nearest contender Dr Shekhar Koirala has garnered 1,197 votes, 

While Prakash Man Singh got 257  votes, Bimalendra Nidhi won 201. Similarly, Kalyan Gurung has so far garnered 17  votes. 

As many as 4,679 delegates participated in the voting that ended at 11:30 PM on Monday. 

One needs to secure more than 50 percent votes to win the NC presidency, meaning 2,340 votes are required to be declared the winner. Otherwise, a run-off is held.
