Know team Deuba; Poudel, Mahat vying for general secy

Deuba challenged by Gurung, Singh, Nidhi and Koirala

KATHMANDU: President of Nepali Congress (NC) Sher Bahadur Deuba has filed his nomination as the candidate for party president. 

Deuba fielded his candidacy for the party’s presidency as he aspired to lead the ruling party for the second stint. 

With this, a total of six candidates will participate in the election for the party president. Earlier, Yubraj Neupane, Kalyan Gurung, Bimalendra Nidhi, Prakash Man Singh and Dr Shekhar Koirala registered their candidacy for the same. 

Sher Bahadur Deuba gave the final shape to his panel for the elections for various positions in the ongoing 14th General Convention of the party. 

A meeting of the leaders close to the faction held in Baluwatar on Saturday afternoon decided to field Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar and Purna Bahadur Khadka as the candidates for vice-president. 

Similarly, Pradeep Poudel and Prakash Sharan Mahat are vying for two general secretarial positions. 

The Deuba panel formed a team of candidates for the joint secretarial positions including Bhishma Raj Angdembe, Man Bahadur Bishwokarma, Mahindra Yadav, Kishor Singh Rathore, Umakanta Chaudhary, Farmullah Mansur, Jeevan Shahi and Dina Upadhyay.
