Govt to provide Rs 10,000 each to poor families as relief

KATHMANDU, November 11: The government has decided to provide Rs 10,000 each to destitute families across the country as a relief package as a large number of general public have been left unemployed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Ministry of Finance issued a notice on Thursday urging eligible people to submit applications to receive the relief at the local administration offices. Those seeking relief can submit applications at local administrations offices both at their permanent and alternate addresses where they have been living for the past six months.

According to the ministry, the government is planning to provide financial relief to more than 500,000 families across the country.

The government has given top priority to wage labourers, the poor and others who lost their jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Besides, those who lost their family members, who were the key source of income, and have been facing financial crisis can also claim the relief.

Besides, those people whose family members are involved in government service or engaged in any private institutions and those whose family members are currently abroad cannot claim the relief. Likewise, those people who have been receiving financial aid from the Social Security Funds won’t also receive the relief.
