Leading 20-member delegation, PM Deuba leaving for UK today
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is leaving for the United Kingdom (UK) on Friday.
PM Deuba is scheduled to lead the Nepali delegation to the World Leaders Summit of the 26th Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 26) being held in Glasgow on November 1 and 2.
PM Deuba is flying to the UK via a Qatar Airways flight at 10 AM Friday.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), PM Deuba will be leading a 20-member delegation comprising Ramsahay Prasad Yadav, Minister for Forests and Environment, as well as senior officials of the Government of Nepal. Including secretaries at Home MInistry (Tek Narayan Pandey), Finance Ministry (Madhu Kumar Marasini), MoFA ( Bharat Raj Poudyal), Ministry of Energy and Water Resources (Devendra Karki), Ministry of Forests and Environment (Pem Narayan Kandel) and National Planning Commission (Kebal Prasad Bhandari).
The COP 26 is being held from October 31 to November 12 in Glasgow, United Kingdom.
According to the MoFA, Deuba will attend and address the welcome event being hosted by the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Nepal (APPG-N) and UK-Nepal Trade and Investment Forum in London.
He is also scheduled to receive the representatives of Britain-Nepal Society, Non-Residential Nepali Association and representatives of the Nepali community residing in the UK.
PM Deuba will attend a reception hosted in his honor by the Chargé d’affaires a.i. at the Embassy of Nepal in London. He will meet with the representatives of Gurkha Veterans’ organizations, members of the British Parliament and other members of the Nepali diaspora.
PM Deuba, on November 1, will attend the official opening ceremony of COP26. He will deliver Nepal’s national statement at the World Leaders Summit. On November 1 evening, Deuba will attend the reception to be hosted by his British counterpart Prime Minister Boris Johnson in honor of the participating heads of state and governments.
The Prime Minister is also scheduled to visit Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh on November 3 and address a gathering there.
The Prime Minister will return from the UK on November 3 and arrive in Kathmandu the other day.
