UML obstructs House meeting yet again, next meeting on Nov 15

KATHMANDU: The main opposition CPN-UML has yet again obstructed the meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR). 

Thursday’s House meeting was obstructed by the UML lawmakers as soon as Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota began proceedings. 

Followed by UML obstruction, the meeting was called off in just 12 minutes. 

The main opposition has been obstructing the 13  House meetings since the new session began on September 8. 

Immediately after SpeakerSapkota began the House proceedings, lawmakers of the main opposition picketed the rostrum and chanted slogans against the latter for not taking action against 14 lawmakers including Madhav Kumar Nepal, Chairman of newly formed CPN (Unified Socialist), whom the UML had sacked. They also demanded the Speaker restrict the entry of those 14 lawmakers. 

Amid UML obstruction, Speaker Sapkota read out the notice issued from the Office of President regarding the approval of Minister of Industry, Commerce and Supply, Gajendra Hamal. 

Similarly, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Dilendra Prasad Badu tabled the annual report of the National Dalit Commission on behalf of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba. 

Speaker Sapkota informed the House that the next meeting will be held on  November 15.
