Ruling alliance reaches agreement on distribution of ministerial berths

Kathmandu, October 6: The ruling alliance has finally reached an agreement on distribution of ministerial berths for the Cabinet expansion.

An agreement was reached during a meeting of the alliance held at PM Office Residence at Baluwatar on Tuesday.

As per the agreement, the ruling Nepali Congress (NC) will get eight ministerial berths including the Prime Minister, CPN (Maoist Center) will get six, CPN (Unified Socialist) and Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) will get 4 each.

With this, NC will get the Ministry for Home Affairs, Foreign Affairs, Health and Population, Communication and Information Technology, Defence and Youths and Sports.

Likewise, JSP will get the Ministry for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Agriculture and Livestock Development, Federal Affairs and General Administration and Forest and Environment.

Similarly, Madhav Nepal-led Unified Socialist will get the Ministry for Lam, Urban Development, Labor and Tourism while CPN (Maoist Center) will get the MInistry for Finance, Energy, Education, Land Management and Drinking Water.
