SC issues short-term order not to take action against MPs duo Pandey, Bhatta

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC), on Sunday, issued a short-term order not to take action against two members of the House of Representatives (HoR) --- Som Prasad Pandeya and Sharada Devi Bhatta.

Issuing the short-term order, a single bench of Justice Mira Khadka summoned both the petitioners and defendants for further discussion on September 14.

MPs duo Pandey and Bhatta lodged a writ petition demanding the court allow them to authenticate for and join the newly formed CPN (Unified Socialist).

The Election Commission (EC) had not allowed them [Pandey and Bhatta] to verify in favor of the CPN (US) as they failed to include their signatures during the time party Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal applied for the registration with the poll body.

The court also issued a show-cause notice in the name of the EC.
