COVID-19 Update : 1,743 recoveries, 1,897 new cases on Monday

KATHMANDU: A total of 1,897 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in the country in the past 24 hours as of Monday afternoon. 

The new cases were detected during  15,979 tests including 11,609 RT-PCR and 4,370 antigen tests, revealed the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP). This takes the total number of cases to 856,218: 770,759 through PCR and 85,459 through antigen tests so far. 

Meanwhile, 1,743 people recovered during the period with the total recoveries reaching 728,928. The recovery rate stands at 94.6 percent.

Twenty other people, however, succumbed to COVID-19 on Monday taking the fatality tally to 10,858. The case fatality rate is 1.5 percent.

The number of active cases of the disease across the country stands at 30,973 with 28,911 of them undergoing treatment being isolated at homes  2,062 others at different institutional isolation centers. Likewise, 512 patients are in ICU while 163 are being treated with the support of a ventilator.

Also today, 107,232 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19. The total number of people vaccinated with both doses has reached 4,962,759 while the number with only the first dose includes 5,573,419.

A total of 18 districts in the country have more than 500 active cases as of today. In Kathmandu valley, the number of active cases including 4,158 in Kathmandu, 1,339 in Bhaktapur and 2,026 in Lalitpur respectively.
