COVID-19: Nepal records 2,295 more cases, 16 deaths

KATHMANDU: Country has recorded 2,295 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of coronavirus cases has reached 844,488 so far. 

Such a number of new coronavirus cases was detected in the course of conducting 16,233 tests including 11,892 RT-PCR tests and 4,341 antigen tests. 

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 1,808 people have recovered from the COVID-19 during the same period. With this, the number of recovered people has reached 714,520 as of today. The recovery rate in Nepal is 93.9 percent.

Similarly, 16 more people succumbed to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 10,730 so far. The fatality rate is 1.5 percent.

There are 35, 874 active coronavirus cases in the country. A total of 538 coronavirus infected people are undergoing treatment at ICU facilities while 160 others are in ventilator support, according to the Ministry. 

Likewise, a total of 33,333 people are in home isolation while 2,541 others are on institutional isolation and 338 in quarantine facilities.
