Leaders of ‘new camp’ in CPN-UML to join Tuesday’s Standing Committee meeting

KATHMANDU, Aug 23: After the first round of meeting with Party Chairman KP Sharma Oli ended on a 'positive note' , the leaders belonging to the ‘new camp’ in the CPN-UML are said to be ready to join the party’s Standing Committee meeting to be held on Tuesday.

The leaders, who were reportedly close to party’s then senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal but did not join his CPN (Unified Socialist), had a three-hour meeting with Chairman Oli at a time leader Nepal is preparing to finalize the registration of his party.

The Election Commission has called the new party for authentication on August 25.

During Monday’s meeting, Chairman Oli agreed to implement the 10-point agreement and resurrect the party mechanism prior to May 16, 2018.

The leaders had been skipping all the meetings called by Chairman Oli ever since the Supreme Court invalidated the erstwhile Nepal Communist Party (NCP) and revived the UML on March 7, earlier this year.

UML Spokesperson Pradeep Gyawali said that a Standing Committee meeting has been called for 11 AM on Tuesday.
