Leaders of ‘new camp’ in CPN-UML call on party Chairman Oli

KATHMANDU, August 23: Leaders belonging to the ‘new camp’ in the CPN-UML, who were reportedly close to party’s then senior leader Madahv Kumar Nepal but did not join his CPN (Unified Socialist), are currently under discussion with party Chairman KP Sharma Oli at the latter’s private residence at Balkot in Bhaktapur.

Leaders including Bhim Rawal, Yubaraj Gyawali, Surendra Pandey, Gokarna Bista, Bhim Acharya and Raghu Panta are currently at Balkot holding a meeting with KP Sharma Oli.

“We want CPN-UML to withdraw its decision to take action against Nepal and other 13 lawmakers and leaders of the CPN (Unified Socialist) to return to the party,” said Yubaraj Gyawali. “We also believe that implementation of the 1o-point agreement will help the party to reunite.”

These leaders have been lobbying to save the party unity though the CPN-UML has now been formally split as the splinter faction of UML-led by Nepal has already filed an application to register a new political party at the Election Commission.
