Unsettled spending up by 107 percent in local levels

Unsettled spending increased by 530 million across country

KATHMANDU, Aug 21: Unsettled expenditure of the local government has increased by 107 percent in the fiscal year 2019/20. 

According to the Office of the Auditor General, Rs 40.83 billion unsettled spending was reported out of the total audited amount of Rs 815.99 billion. This exceeded by Rs 2.7 billion compared to 38.13 billion in FY 2018/19. 

The unsettled expenditure in the local levels amounts for 5 percent of the total expenditure, highest in the three federal units. While the federal government reported 2.83 percent (Rs 44.39 billion) unsettled spending in FY 2019/20, provincial govt bories 2.74 percent (Rs 6.50 billion). 

Meanwhile, other authorities including the committees reported the highest percent of unsettled amounts which equals to 7.74 percent of the audited amount, according to the 58th Annual Report submitted to President Bidya Devi Bhandari. 

Unsettled amount up by 530 million 

The report of the Office of the Auditor General states that the country reported a total of Rs 418.85 billion unsettled in FY 2019/20 compared to Rs 418.32 billion in FY 2018/19.
