Kathmandu Valley alone has 11,750 active corona cases

KATHMANDU, Aug 19: There are at least 40,500 patients of the coronavirus disease across the country as of Thursday afternoon, according to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP). 

With soaring number of cases of the disease in recent days, densely populated districts have started reporting a spike in active cases. 

The Kathmandu Valley, where Nepal’s federal capital lies, reported a total of 11,750 active cases of the disease. According to the daily media release of the health ministry, most active cases (8,095) are in Kathmandu district. Laltipur has 2,206 cases while Bhaktapur has 1,449 active cases. 

A total of 21 districts have more than 500 active cases. The districts include  Morang, Jhapa and Sunsari in Province 1;  Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Chitwan, Makwanpur, Kavrepalanchowk, Nuwakot, Dolakha and Sindhupalchowk in Bagmati Province;  Nawalparasi East, Kaski, Baglung, Gorkha, Syagnja and Tanahu in Gandaki Province. Similarly, two districts in Lumbini Province --- Dang and  Rupandehi and Surkhet in Karnali also reported 500 plus active cases.
