Lumbini Province Assembly meeting put off till Aug 23

BUTWAL, Aug 19: Meeting of the Lumbini Province Assembly called for Thursday has been postponed. 

Issuing a notice, the Province Assembly Secretariat shared the  postponement of the third meeting of the ninth session till August 23.

Lawmakers of the main opposition party, CPN (UML) have been obstructing the House, demanding Speaker Purna Bahadur Gharti relieve its two lawmakers—Ajay Shahi and Bimala Oli of their posts. 

The CPN (UML) took action against Shahi and Oli after they supported the Kul Bahadur KC-led government.     

The Central Committee of the CPN (UML) also submitted a letter to the Province Assembly Secretariat through the provincial parliamentary party regarding the action taken against Shahi and Oli. 

The CPN (UML) has been demanding to read out the letter at the provincial assembly and to relieve them of their posts.
