Land-related Problems Resolution Commission ‘revived’ until August 17

KATHMANDU, Aug 9L The Supreme Court (SC) has issued a short-term interim order in the name of the government not to implement its decision to scrap the Land-related Problems Resolution Commission immediately.

Hearing a writ petition filed by Devi Gyawali, Chairman of the commission and others, a single bench of Justice Ishwor Khatiwada issued the show-cause order in the name of the defendants.

The apex court also asked both the plaintiffs and defendants to appear before the court on August 17.

The erstwhile KP Sharma Oli government had formed the commission on 14 April, 2020 with an aim to manage accommodation of Dalits and landless squatters.

A cabinet meeting held on August 3 scrapped the commission.
