Govt scraps Landless Problems Resolution Commission, seeks clarification for Railway Company GM

KATHMANDUm Aug 4: The government has decided to scrap the landless problem resolution commission.

A Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday made the decision, informed government spokesperson and Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Gyanendra Karki.

The government also appointed Madhu Prasad Regmi as the chairperson of Teachers' Service Commission (TSC).

The meeting also decided to appoint Dilliram Rimal and Nanda Kumari Maharjan as the members of the commission.

The recommendation was made for the appointment of office-bearers in the commission a year ago. Regular performance of the TSC has been affected in absence of the office-bearers citing several reasons.

Recruitment of new teachers and routine promotion have been affected in the community schools across the country. The appointment of officials in the TSC would believably expedite the task.

The Cabinet also decided to seek explanation from Railway Company's General Manager Guru Prasad Bhattarai and accept the resignation tendered by Gorkhapatra Corporation's chair Krishna Murari Bhandari and consulting editor Gopal Khanal.

Government Spokesperson Gyanendra Bahadur Karki also shared that the Cabinet decided to accept a concessional loan worth 165 million US Dollars to be received from Asian Development Bank for anti-COVID vaccines.

Likewise, the government decided to waive off late fines slapped in vital incidents registration during the time of prohibition order effective from April 29. Due to enforcement of prohibitory orders, the vital registration was affected in the country.

Owing to this, the local levels had started slapping late fines in the registration of vital incidents.

Also, the government has decided to appoint Prof Bhushan Shrestha, Govinda Prasad Sharma, Madandas Shrestha, Kush Prasad Malla, Om Prakash Mahato and Nara Bahadur Kandel as members of the medals and awards committee.

The government has also endorsed the 'National Medical Education first amendment regulation, 2078'.

Minster Karki further shared that the government promoted joint-secretary Hari Prasad Mainali to the post of Secretary.
