Cabinet recommends to summon both House sessions on July 18

KATHMANDU, July 15: The government has recommended to the President Bidya Devi Bhandari to summon the fresh sessions of both the Houses -- House or Representatives (HoR) and National Assembly (NA) --- for 4 PM on July 18.

A Cabinet meeting held at the Singha Durbar-based Office of Prime MInister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM) on Thursday afternoon decided to this effect, according to government spokesperson Gyanendra Bahadur Karki.

The recommendation comes in line with the order issued by the Supreme Court on Monday, earlier this week. The constitutional bench ordered the government to summon the meeting of the reinstated HoR by July 18.

The lower House of parliament, which was dissolved on May 22 for the second time, was restored by the Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana-led bench.

Meanwhile, the government also decided to extend the term of two commissions --- Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and Commission for Investigation on Enforced Disappearance Persons (CIEDP--- by another one year.
