NC’s Sitaula urges PM Deuba not to rush for Cabinet expansion

KATHMANDU, July 15: A key leader of the ruling Nepali Congress (NC), Krishna Prasad Sitaula  has suggested Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba not to pick the ministers  in a hurry or take charge of all the ministries by himself. 

Sitaula, on Thursday, made some suggestions to PM Deuba regarding the expansion of the Council of Ministers and its operation. 

Sitaula was of the opinion that Deuba should maintain a balance both in the party and in the opposition alliance in a bid to safeguard the alliance. 

"We need to think about how to maintain a balance between the alliance and our party when we assign the ministries to address the  sentiments of all our friends [alliance partners]," Sitaula said. "The prime minister needs the skill to understand all these things and make timely decisions without a rush."

According to Sitaula, it is a big achievement for the Congress party to get the prime ministerial position. Sitaula also asked other leaders of the Nepali Congress not to exert any pressure on Deuba for ministerial positions. 

Sitaula's statement comes at a time when Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is holding a series of discussions with the leaders of the alliance, that comprises NC, CPN (Maoist Center), CPN-UML's Nepal faction, JSP's Yadav faction and Rastriya Janamorcha, over the expansion of his Cabinet.
