Four Gandaki ministers assigned ministerial portfolios, Manange is again Sports Minister

POKHARA, June 26: Gandaki Chief Minister Krishna Chandra Nepali Pokhrel decided to assign to oversee specific ministries to four ministers without portfolio. 

Following a dispute among the Nepali Congress (NC), the CPN (Maoist Center) and the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) regarding ministerial division,the four ministers who were appointed on June 12 were not yet assigned to charge of any ministry. 

However, as the three coalition partners reached an agreement, Kumar Khadka, a member of Gandaki Province Assembly representing the NC, will now oversee the MInistry of Social Development. Khdka, however, was staking claim for  the Finance or Physical Infrastructure ministries. 

While Maoist Center’s Madhu Maya Adhikari will take charge of the Ministry of Health and Population, JSP’s Hari Sharan Acharya will be given the MInistry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation. 

Rajib Gurung aka Dipak Manange will oversee the Youth and Sports Ministry. He was assigned the same portfolio by the former Chief Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung. He, however, changed the camp and joined the Pokharel-led government. 

Gandaki Province has a total of 11 ministries. Owing to the disputes over the portfolio division, other names are yet to be finalized.
