COVID-19 cases spike again, 8,636 cases detected thru 22,936 tests

KATHMANDU, May 25:  Nepal on Tuesday reported an increase of new cases. According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), as many as 8,636 new cases were detected through the 22,936 tests [22,306 RT-PCR tests and 630 antigen tests] in the past 24 hours as of Tuesday afternoon. The daily case-count on Monday stood at 7,425 and 7,914 on Sunday. 

With Tuesday’s updates, Nepal’s total caseload has jumped to 528,848. Of the cases confirmed, 76.6 percent people so far have recovered from the disease.  With 6,404 recoveries on Tuesday, Nepal’s recovery tally hit 404,887. 

Meanwhile, 169 deaths were reported on Tuesday taking the country’s fatality to 6,700. 

According to the health ministry, there are still 117,261 active cases of the disease across the country. Similarly, 914 others are staging at quarantine facilities.
