Ex Lieutenant General  Bala Nanda Sharma to take charge of CCMC

CCMC was earlier led by Deputy PM Pokharel

KATHMANDU, May 25: The government has appointed retired Lieutenant General  of the Nepal Army (NA), Bala Nanda Sharma as the chief executive officer (CEO) of the COVID-19 Crisis Management Center (CCMC). 

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Monday evening made a decision into this effect. 

A Health Emergency Ordinance issued by the government earlier this week made some changes in the structure of the CCMC and with a provision of a CEO to take charge of the high-level body to tackle the coronavirus pandemic . Sharma was appointed the CEO under the same provision of the ordinance.

Earlier, CCMC was led by Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokharel. Pokharel will now remain as the member of a steering committee led by Prime Minister KP Oli. The committee will include eight Cabinet ministers and the chief secretary.
