3,501 people die of COVID-19 since April 1; 100 plus deaths in past 15 days in a row

KATHMANDU, May 25: 

At least 6,531 people have so far died of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) since the first death was reported on May 16, 2020, according to COVID-19 updates released by the  Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Monday afternoon. This number accounts for 1.25 percent of the total infections --- 520,461-- confirmed in the country. 

The data released by the ministry, revealed that a total of 3,501 people have succumbed to the disease since April 1. This accounts for 53.60 percent of the total deaths confirmed. Officials said that the number could be more than this once the data received from the Nepal Army (NA), which is entrusted with the duty to manage the dead bodies of the corona patients, is updated accurately. 

The data shows that the highest number of deaths in a day was reported at 246. More than 200 daily death-count was confirmed on May 11 (225), May 13 (214), May 14 (203) and May 17 (214). The ministry shared that Nepal has been witnessing more than 100 daily deaths in the past 15 days in a row.
