NC Prez Deuba draws govt's attention over COVID-19, demands to ensure vaccination against pandemic

KATHMANDU, May 20: President of main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC), Sher Bahadur Deuba has drawn the government’s attention over the ongoing  second wave of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) i. 

President Deuba, on Thursday, reached the Prime Minister’s Office in Singha Durbar and handed over a 15-point memorandum to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli  to draw the government’s attention to combat COVID-19. Leaders including Krishna Prasad Sitaula, General Secretary Purna Bahadur Khadka and  Joint General Secretary Prakash Sharan Mahat joined Deuba. 

Expressing his serious concerns over rising death rate and shortage of beds and lifesaving oxygen at hospitals, President Deuba demanded the government immediately initiate diplomatic efforts for the procurement of vaccines against coronavirus. He also urged the government to make necessary arrangements to address the shortage of hospital beds and oxygen at the earliest.

Deuba also suggested to the government to run an awareness drive to protect children from the deadlier wave of the coronavirus disease.
