COVID-19 scare: Prohibitory orders enforced in 63 districts

KATHMANDU, May 9: A total of 63 districts have enforced prohibitory orders to break the transmission chain of coronavirus.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, respective district administration offices (DAOs) in 53 districts have enforced prohibitory orders in the entire district while 10 others have placed restrictions in the COVID-19 affected sites.   

Banke, Surkhet, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Kaski, Kailali, Parsa, Dang, Kanchanpur, Palpa, Chitwan, Rupandehi, Baglung, Bardiya, Salyan, Sunsaari, Darchula, Jajarkot, Rukum (West), Dadeldhura, Jhapa, Morang, Gulmi, Pyuthan, Gorkhka, Bajura, Udayapur and Bajhang district have enforced the prohibitory orders.   

Likewise, such orders are in force in Kalikot, Syangja, Kapilvastu, Nuwakot, Dhanusha, Arghakhanchi, Baitadi, Dailekh, Mahottari, Dolpa, Doti, Nawalparasi (East), Rolpa, Mugu, Bara, Siraha, Nawalparasi (West), Dolakha, Achham, Humla, Dhading, Rautahat, Sankhuwasabha and Sarlahi districts.  

The districts make such orders only in the affected regions include Kavre, Parbat, Makawanpur, Ramechhap, Taplejung, Myagdi, Ilam, Tanahun, Sindhupalchowk and Dhankuta, according to the Home Ministry. 

Earlier, the Council of Ministers had given the responsibility to the local administration to enforce such orders if the hill districts cross 200 active cases of coronavirus and districts in the Kathmandu Valley and terai report more than 500 of such cases.
