9,196 people test positive for COVID-19, 2905 patients recover on Friday

Kathmandu Valley alone has 34,621 active cases

KATHMANDU, May 7: The officials confirmed a total of 9,196 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease throughout the country in the past 24 hours. 

As many as 9,023 cases were detected through 19,987 RT-PCR tests while 173 others through the 495 antigen tests taking the country’s total casetally to 377,603. 

The health ministry said that at least 2,905 patients gained recovery from the infection in the past one day which has taken the country’s recovery tally to 295,395. The recovery rate stands at 78.2 percent as of Friday afternoon. 

Meanwhile, 50 more people lost their lives to the infectious disease. Total number of deaths in the country since May 16 last year, when the country reported the first death, has climbed to 3,579. 

Meanwhile, the three districts of the Kathmandu Valley reported 4,106 new infections on Friday. The Valley, where Nepal’s federal capital lies, has now 34,621 active cases of the disease. It accounts for 44. 03 percent of the 78,629 active cases reported from across the country.
