Nepal sees record-high COVID-19 deaths of 58 on Wednesday

KATHMANDU, May 5: As many as 55 people succumbed to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the past 24 hours. 

This is the highest single-day fatality number since the country reported the first death on May 16 last year. With this, Nepal’s COVID-19 death tally has soared to 3,475. 

According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), a total of 8,659 people tested positive for the virus in the past 24 hours. As many as 8,605 people found infected through the 20,756 RT-PCR tests and 54 others were diagnosed with the disease through the 616 antigen tests.
