EC updates eligible voters to 15.4 million

Kathmandu - A total of 15.4 million voters will be eligible to vote in the upcoming elections to the House of Representatives and the Provincial Assemblies. 

The final count of the voters in the voters roll was approved and made public by the Election Commission on Tuesday. Accordingly, there are 7.76 million male voters and 7.65 million female voters, said EC spokesperson Nawraj Dhakal. There are also 170 third gender voters in the list. 

As per the approved list, there are 2.99 million voters in province no. 1, 2.76 million in province no. 2, 3.07 million in province no. 3, 1.56 million in province no. 4, 2.74 million in province no. 5, 0.84 million in province no. 6 and 1.43 million in province no. 7 who will be able to vote in the two levels of election taking place on November 26 and December 7 respectively. 

Nepali citizens reaching 18 years of age on the day the elections were announced were regarded as eligible voters, provided they register themselves in the biometric voters list.
