We cannot imagine Nepal without RSS: Secretary Gurung

Kathmandu - The four – day 'RSS Journalism Training' commenced today with an aim to provide orientation to the journalists affiliated with the National News Agency (RSS). 

Information and Communications Secretary, Mahendra Man Gurung, inaugurated the training being held within the RSS Central Office premises. He stressed on need for making the RSS service commercial, credible and effective. 

"We cannot imagine Nepal without the RSS; it has been operating as per the country's necessity, and it is imperative that we equip it with modern infrastructure and resources," he said. 
Stating that the RSS must keep the customers at the centre in course of its news service at a time when modern information and technology is moving forward in leaps and bounds, Secretary Gurung insisted on developing a system that makes RSS service customer – friendly. 

Gurung added that the government would provide utmost support in making RSS commercial. He urged the country's only news agency to develop a commercial policy for it. 
RSS Chairman, Kul Chandra Wagle, expressed his commitment in making RSS services fair, commercial and credible. He added that the news agency is in course of reforming its working style and making it technology – friendly. 

On the occasion, RSS General Manager, Opendra Sharma, said additional preparations were being made in the national and international levels for enhancing the quality of the RSS services. 
The four-day training will see Professor and RSS former Chair P Kharel, Prof Ram Krishna Regmi, journalist Mohan Mainali, language campaigner Dr Baldev Adhikari, journalist Guna Raj Luintel, RSS former GM Shreeram Singh Basnet, journalist Dharma Bhusal among others share their experiences along with lectures on journalism.
