Read Prez Bhandari’s answer to Supreme Court regarding the citizenship bill

KATHMANDU, Nov 17: President Bidhya Devi Bhandari has submitted her answer to the Supreme Court regarding the citizenship bill.

Earlier, Prez Bhandari had refused to authenticate the bill passed by the House of Representatives (HoR) and the upper house.

Following President Bhandari’s move, a writ petition was filed at the apex court.The court had then issued a show cause order against President Bhandari.

In the reasons submitted by the Office of the President, it has been maintained that the members of parliament have failed to follow Article 10 (2) and Article 15 of the Constitution of Nepal.

It has also been maintained that the parliamentarians neglected the suggestion of the President and it is the prime duty of the President to protect the Constitution.
