Governor Adhikari must resign from his post: PM Deuba

KATHMANDU, July 15: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has maintained that governor Maha Prasad Ahhikari of the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) must resign from his post.

Governor Adhikari has been dragged into controversy after a member of CPN-UML’s finance and planning department, named ‘M Adhikari from Khotang district’ is believed to be none other than governor Adhikari.

PM Deuba in a meeting of the ruling alliance held on Friday said that Governor Adhikari must resign from his post on ethical grounds, according to a leader who attended the meeting.

Governor Adhikari had earlier sent a letter to CPN-UML to clarify if he is a member of CPN-UML’s finance and planning department or not. UML on its part stated that ‘M Adhikari’ is not governor Maha Prasad Ahhikari.
